When the interior PDF is uploaded to your project and processed for Print-Ready normalization, our systems checks off that every single available font option and other file aspects, whether it has been used or not, have been formatted and embedded appropriately. If our system displays the message that one of the fonts it is looking for has not been embedded, then file will need to be re-saved accordingly in order to proceed with the publication process.
If your PDF manuscript was created in Microsoft Word, there are certain options available to ensure that the fonts are properly embedded depending on the system you are using. Check out this article for visual and step-by-step guides on making a properly formatted PDF from Microsoft Word, specifically the section referencing embedded fonts.
There are also third-party tools online that allow creators to process their PDF into a format that has the fonts embedded. Many creators have had success using AvePDF to successfully resize, convert, and embed their PDF files. If you are not using Microsoft Word, I would suggest using this tool to save your PDF as a PDF/A compliant file and then try uploading it to your project again.
