Dear 38 Degrees

I have always considered 38 Degrees to be a vital part of our national essentials to conduct proactive search for what the country needs going forwards, and so wish to remain in 38 Degrees in the most truth-accommodating manner possible, notwithstanding that many of my petitions have not gone down weil.. This is vital, in that we all have our instinctive views on current affairs but are they really what is best for the county, I ask. Should we not leave it to the democratic processes of the country so that all we should campaign for is improvements on the means to attain greater democracy by working out what democracy means. This is what the Conservative Libertarian Party of the United Kingdom seeks to do: https://theconservativelibertarianpartyoftheunitedkingdom.com. There is too much top-down government and not enough bottoms-up government in the United Kingdom. No one wants to know what the top brass thinks and plans for us when we have to take the bull by the horns and change things ourselves. The present system based on an archaic Constitution is intolerable. Have you thought of that before you start to paper over the cracks in the way the country is governed with petitions that only go to make people think that something is being done to address their injustices and violations of human rights when in fact the past 24 years have shown that there is no addressing of pertinent human rights issues? The Police are totally unregulated in this respect: Read this: THE FINAL STRAIGHT-digital.pdf.

Giving you any donations is a waste of money as it changes nothing, unless you can address the issues that I have highlighted over a long period of time.

Yours sincerely

Merry Christmas, Shantanu!

After a year of ups and downs for many of us, here’s hoping we can all enjoy a bit of time out to relax and unwind today. And as you put your feet up, I just want to take a moment to thank you for everything that you, as part of the 38 Degrees community, have helped to achieve this year.

Rewilding

If you’re watching the Queen's Speech this afternoon, take a moment to celebrate the amazing impact of our campaign to rewild parts of the Crown Estate. Our collaboration with rewilding group WildCard has firmly planted the idea that the royal land should be rewilded: public support for this rose an impressive 11% over the course of the campaign. The Crown Estate even invited us to a meeting and we have high hopes for this campaign in 2022. [1]

COP26

COP26 was the biggest environmental event in the calendar this year - and a monumental moment for our planet. [2] We sent a powerful message to the world on the very first day of the conference with attention-grabbing ads in major newspapers - all funded by thousands of 38 Degrees supporters. From polling and ads used to pressure key figures like Rishi Sunak, to an open letter to world leaders demanding binding climate action in The Times, our voices were heard by decision makers and citizens worldwide. With your help, we will continue to push for stronger measures at next year’s meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh. [3]

We also successfully leveraged our hosting of COP 26 in order to force the government to reconsider approval of the Cumbria coal mine - and hopefully shelve the plans once and for all next year. [4]

Busy Bees

The 38 Degrees community was buzzing this year: an incredible 60,000 supporters planted the seeds we sent them to protect our bees. Together, we’re protecting our precious pollinators at a time when they're being threatened with dangerous pesticides, and the destruction of their habitats. [5]

We couldn’t have achieved any of this without your help Shantanu. All that you have done, from signing petitions and writing to your MP, to chipping in to ensure we can campaign on issues big and small across the country, has made it all possible.

Thank you for everything - we can’t wait to see all that we can achieve together in 2022!

From all of us here, have a wonderful Christmas,

Natasha, Myles, Siobhan and the 38 Degrees team

PS: As this year draws to a close, we’re busily planning powerful campaigns for 2022. If you’re able to, please can you chip in to help make next year’s campaigns bigger and better than ever?
