Indian State of Assam repeals colonial-era law that allowed muslim child marriage


TCLS views personal law that determine the culture of different groups within a Sate as a matter of conscience and therefore should be distinct from the Uniiform Criminal Code that governs the entire State, so supports the Assamese government that permits its 34 per cent Muslims to practice child marriage.
