Dear Shantanu,

Picture the scene. You're a hard-working nurse in the middle of yet another gruelling night shift, caring for patients as they fight for their lives. At times you wonder whether anyone in the outside world really cares anymore. You grab a couple of minutes for a break, glance at the local paper and see a huge thank you message to you, from people across the country.

More than 70,000 of us have already signed an online thank you card, which we're delivering to NHS staff this week. [1] Our support will be a huge boost to NHS workers, but not all of them will see it, so now we need to spread the word further. Eye-catching adverts splashed across some of the biggest regional newspapers will send a powerful message to our NHS heroes.

Securing advertising space in these major newspapers won’t come cheap - and right now we haven't raised enough to make this happen. But there are millions of us reading this. If every single one of us who is grateful to the NHS chipped in a fiver today, we could get this card in papers up and down the country in time for Christmas.

So, Shantanu, will you help fund high-profile ads in major UK newspapers to thank our NHS heroes? Use the buttons below to make a secure donation of whatever you can afford:

Here's a mock up of what the ad will look like:

While the rest of us look forward to what will hopefully be a relaxing Christmas, already exhausted NHS staff are preparing for the toughest few months yet. [2] At the start of the pandemic, there was endless positive media coverage and the weekly applause - but this year it feels like our NHS heroes are being taken for granted.

We might not be able to solve the crisis, but that doesn’t make us powerless. We’ve crunched the numbers, and if around 3,000 of us chipped in at least £5 each, it would be enough to cover the costs for ads right across the country. If we secure more donations we can spread our thank you message even further.

So, Shantanu, will you chip in and let our NHS heroes know how much we appreciate them? Use the buttons below to make a secure donation of whatever you can afford:

Thanks for being involved,

Ben, Veronica, Megan and the 38 Degrees team

38 Degrees wouldn’t exist without you, Shantanu.

38 Degrees has no big donors - we’re funded by ordinary people who care, like you. Regular donations mean that we can plan future campaigns, pay our workers a decent wage, and keep fighting for what we all believe in.

Will you consider setting up a regular donation of a fiver, tenner or whatever you can spare? Click here to donate securely:

__________________________________________________________________________________ Update: I deleted this email from 38 Degrees as I could not support any such anticipated rubbish, nor do I agree with the strategy of the State on how to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic in relation to liberty to pursue ones business as usual, regardless of the effect that has ono ones physical well being health-wise. I certainly do not agree paying newspapers who are self serving vested interests having no concern for society embroiled in party politics one supporting one party another supporting a different party with no national cohesion towards a common agenda and cause. The system is completely broken.
